Rivers flow backwards
wrote a beautiful soul
of how the grass is blue
and insanities bliss consoles.
Dear home of mine here
in the valley of the mountains
I grew true blue and flow
in southern fountains.
Blue grass is a tune I feel
at my core and my heel
has traveled miles here
and sometimes hurt is real.
Real is a feeling of bliss
of simple life things foster
feelings of comfort and love
come softer.
Here in the valley green
is a sun that shines yellow
is a man I call myself who
is an emotional fellow.
I hear her words now
and I am in such a sway.
I’m ready to cry a moment
as Dolly’s words they slay.
Of how a love ends
I heard sweet words sing
of how the truth is a lie and
how it is a beautiful thing.
Snow her tropics I can relate
to as I sit here callous blue.
But comfort can be found in
pretending the opposites true.
(This is a tribute to Dolly Parton and her phenomenal ability to express
beautifully an emotion so raw and real.
“The Grass Is Blue” is a song written and sung by Dolly of course. But, but. It was also done by Norah Jones and of course is amazing and I highly suggest checking it out. Thank you. Jared.)
Love this!! When it comes to writing music, Dolly Parton is tough to beat, but when it comes to voices, Noah Jones is incomparable!! Lovely, tribute, my friend!
